Having a Baby… Juice Juice Juice


It has been such a long time since I last posted on the blog.

I gave birth to a healthy handsome baby boy. Throughout my pregnancy I juiced every single day. Green juice, apple juice, carrot juice, and different combinations of juice all ran through my veins and replenished my system and that of my baby. He was born and could hold his head up and I still do believe that his strength is directly related to the juices I have been consuming. I focused on fetal development and requirements and juiced ingredients that would help boost my health and that of my growing baby in me.

I want to share some juice recipes that would help those who are planning to get pregnant, and those who are already going through their journey at being pregnant.

To Those Who are Trying to Get Pregnant

First thing I want to share with you is a detox. It took me a while to get pregnant and I read somewhere that a cleanse can help reboot my system. I did a four day juice fast (read my blog post about it here). A month after the cleanse and healthy eating I got pregnant. All you got to do is try to eliminate sugars in your diet. Eat healthy food and if you have the will to go vegan for a few weeks then go ahead and do that. As for me all I did is I went on a juice fast for 4 days. I eliminated caffeine from my system and all sugars. I ate a lot of greens. I exercised daily and drank lots of water and fluid.

Here are a few juice recipes that help with fertility.

During the first trimester, the embryo becomes a fetus with all organs fully formed. Taking these dramatic changes and developments in your womb many things are also happening to your body to be able to accommodate the needs of the baby. During the second trimester you are most energetic and happily pregnant. Now that all the major organs and systems have formed in the fetus, the following six months will be spent growing. This means that you require a lot of vitamins and nutrients to help the growing fetus in you. I drank a lot of grapefruit and green juice during that time. Here are a few recipes:

In the third trimester heartburn kicks in. More growth happening to the fetus and lungs are developing and maturing. I started to feel heavy and easily tired during the last few weeks. To keep your energy up and to help you through what is to become of your life try these healthy recipes.

  1. I read through this quickly so I’m not sure if I missed it. You said you juiced through your entire pregnancy! What was you daily juice/food intake like? They say you only need about 600 extra calories is that correct? Did that just come in the form of juice? Did it help to alleviate cravings?

    1. I had juice in the morning and sometimes another green one in the afternoons. In this post you can see that I tried different juices depending on which trimester I was in and in relation to the growing fetus nutritional requirements. But mostly I had Grapefruit… OR..Apple/carrot/beets/kale/half a lemon/ginger juice… I did not have cravings at all… Apple/carrot/ginger was excellent for the cravings and morning sickness (which I also did not have)…
      I personally did not count calories but I guess 300 extra calories are all what is needed for a pregnant woman.
      I just went with the flow and tried to eat natural whole and nutritious food 🙂

  2. Hi Rasha, this is very true. Its been 4years that my partner and I were trying to have a baby in our own. Our first fertility doctor she look on us like money tree. Then we change our first fertility doctor. We though this clinic can help us but in our first month the two intern give us a very bad news the way they deliver the news was Its 50/50 chance that I can’t be a mother. Were already thinking to have a donor egg or to adop. But I didn’t give up and not losing hope. I know in my heart I can do something so that my dream to be a mother will come true. So I started to drink mint tea which is I planted in my backyard. I drink green juice 3 times a week like 6 glass a day plus green tea leaves. Most of my green juice ingredients was from my backyard and apples from my neighbour, some fruits from my friends store And walking everyday. After 3 weeks I got a good news that I am ovulating on my own and now I am almost 5 weeks pregnant. Sometimes doctor are making mistakes but if you have a faith in god and to yourself and strong spirit you can make a miracle!!!

    I’ve just started my journey trying to get pregnant. I’ve been reading other women’s journals and I think drinking the juice and smoothies is definitely something I want to do. I also want to try the juice cleanse. I was just wondering if you have the specific recipes? I am new to all of this so I’m not sure how much of each ingredient to include in each smoothie. I see the one fertility smoothie has the specific ingredients. Am I missing the others? It’s very possible. Haha.

    1. Hi… All the ingredients are on the images themselves…
      here are some:
      2 stalks celery, 1 apple, 1/2 inch ginger, handful parsley and 1/2 lemon… (juice and enjoy)

      apple, celery, spinach, ginger
      cucumber, celery, apply, carrot
      apple, carrot, beets, kale, lemon, cucumber

      there are no specific amounts for each fruit/vegetable you are juicing… it is up to you and your preference… i advise you try and play around with the ingredients to make it taste good and a fun experience for you…

    I found what you wrote very interesting. I am curious how you wet about juicing while trying to conceive. Did you just add juices between your normal healthy meals? or replace meals with Juice?

    1. Hey Nicole. Yes. I ate healthy and clean and added juices in between. Depending on the days, I would sometimes do a morning juice and then snack on another. I think the most important thing to take into consideration is to have a healthy mindset toward everything. Each clean, do not stress out and try to work out and move 🙂 good luck
